Frequently Asked Questions

QUAD ADVENTURES

Do I need to have previous experience?

No, full training will be given prior to your Quad Adventure commencing and only when your instructor is satisfied will he commence with the trek. If you are ever unsure, just stop and ask!

Is there an age limIt for quad biking?

The minimum age is 10 years old as recommended by the manufactures, we have no maximum age, but due to the nature of riding quad bikes in an off road environment we would stress that participants need to be reasonably fit.

Can I bring my own quad bike?

For our Quad Adventures we provide the best quality Honda and Yamaha quad bikes that are maintained and serviced to our high standard. If you would like to ride your own bike around our purpose built MX Track then please check out our private hires page.

Do I need to book?

Yes. You can easily use our booking system to secure your Quad Adventure. A deposit is required to reserve spaces on our Quad Adventures.

How long does it last?

We offer a 1 hour 15 minute Quad Adventure. All of our Quad Adventures include a 15 minute introduction with health and safety briefing before you start and time to get kitted out in your overalls, helmet and gloves. Approximately 15 minutes of your Quad Adventure will be ‘training’ so you know how to use the Quad Bike safely. Allow a minimum of 1 hour 30 minutes for your visit.

Is Quad Biking Safe?

Quad biking is safe as long as you follow the full instructions and briefing given by our fully trained staff. Our instructors are very experienced and their priority is to provide a safe environment for all of our riders. Safety equipment including helmets are provided. Riders not listening to instruction or riding in a dangerous manner will not be tolerated and asked to stop their trek to ensure the safety of everybody present.

What shall I wear?

Overalls are provided by us to wear over your normal clothes but is is advisable to wear something that you don’t mind getting muddy, plus a pair of boots or sturdy shoes. Long sleeves and trousers must be worn if you choose not to wear our overalls.

How do I book?

Booking is simple, click here to go to the booking page and reserve your space. Alternatively you can contact the office on 01244 300321. A deposit is taken at the time of booking. Bookings must be made in advance of the day.

How many people are in each group?

We can accommodate up to 2 -18 riders at a time depending on ages (6 of these riders may be juniors). Our Standard Adventures will be a mixed ability group of riders which may include both juniors and adults. Our Exclusive Adventures are all about you and your own group, allowing us to tailor the experience more to your ability and interests. Adequate supervision is provided with our Quad Instructors and a minimum of two instructors will be with larger groups. Please note: we can only take a maximum of 6 juniors at a time but additional adult riders (16+ years) can be added to the group.

can my child go by him/herself?

We do not take single bookings and strongly advise all children to be accompanied by an adult on their experience.

Is there a weight restriction?

Quad bikes do have a maximum weight restriction of up to 25 stone,
however please take into account that quad biking is a physical sport and
you must deem yourself to be physically fit enough to take part. Under 16s who may be too tall or heavy for our 90cc quads may, in exceptional circumstances, be allowed to ride our 250cc quads (with parental/guardian consent) to ensure a safer Quad Adventure.

MX tuition

Who provides the tuition?

All tuition is provided by Will Bayman, joint owner of Tile Farm Off Road Limited. Will has been riding motocross since his early teens and accelerated up to racing at expert level in the early stages of his riding. Will has been teaching motocross since his late teens to both children and adults (groups and individually) of various abilities from beginner to intermediate level and has a very patient, clear, and friendly approach to help riders develop their confidence and get the most out of their ability. Will continues to race at expert level as well as leading our Quad Adventures here at Tile Farm Off Road where he teaches the safe riding of Quads to our customers before their treks.

Who is the tuition aimed at?

Here at Tile Farm Off Road, our aim is to support riders from complete novice to intermediate level. Will can teach complete beginners the basics of how to ride their bike safely, up to helping the more competent rider develop their confidence and riding style so they can progress in their riding.

My child has additional needs, can they still attend tuition?

Will has a wealth of experience providing tuition to young people who have behavioural or additional needs. Will’s experience stems from a previous role where he worked for an alternative education provision which focused on mechanics and motocross. Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible to encourage people to get into the sport so please get in touch with us if you or your child have any additional needs or disability you feel we need to be aware of before the tuition goes ahead. Unfortunately there are some disabilities which are not covered by our insurance, however please contact us to discuss further.

How many people will be in my tuition session?

Our tuition is tailor made to suit the person who has booked it. If you have booked a session for 5 people then the other 4 people attending will have been arranged through you and not added on by us. Our maximum group size is 5 riders so that you get the most out of your tuition.

Where does the tuition take place?

Our tuition takes place on our purpose built practice track based here at Tile Farm Off Road. The use of the track for the duration of the tuition is included in the tuition cost. During the winter months we may have use of a flat stubble field track when our main MX track is out of action due to the weather/track conditions.

Is it safe?

Motorsport can be dangerous. We take all reasonable precautions and our team meet all the requirements of health and safety. Motocross in particular has a high likelihood of injury so please take care and ensure you are wearing the correct safety wear such as: helmet, goggles, gloves, motocross boots, body armour and appropriate motocross attire.

What if I don’t have my own bike yet?

We now also have a Yamaha TTR 125cc and Honda CRF 250cc available to hire for tuition especially for those who aren’t sure whether they will like the sport but want to give it a try! Check out our MX Tuition page for more details.

PRACTICE TRACK

what do you mean by noise restriction?

Usually well maintained standard pipes are fine on our track but when people use after market exhausts they are often too loud and lead us to get complaints from neighbouring areas. If you are unsure then please just give us a call or ask us on arrival.

Do you ever open the track on a weekend?

No. We open it for practice sessions on Wednesdays and offer private hire on weekdays only. This is because we want to keep the noise levels to a minimum. We also prioritise our Quad Adventures and MX Tuition (kids only) on Saturdays.

is it ok to wear wellies instead of motocross boots?

No. All riders are required to wear: Helmet, gloves, long sleeve top, long trousers and motocross boots. This is to promote safety and you will not be allowed to ride your off-road bike or quad on the track without these items. We also strongly recommend wearing body armour and eye protection.

do you allow electric bikes?

This is completely dependent on the model of your electric “motocross” bike. It needs to be equivalent power and build as a motorised motocross bike for us to consider it.

Can I ride my bike at the same time as my 10 year old child?

No. We run separate sessions on our main track for adults and juniors, as well as separate sessions for larger kids bikes and smaller kids bikes. The groups are also dependent on the size of your engine. Any 125cc 2-stroke (or 4-stroke equivalent) or person aged 16 years+ will be in the adults sessions. If you have a younger rider on a larger engine bike you may be turned away, please call us to discuss further if needed.

I’m a beginner, is your track suitable?

We pride ourselves on being a beginner friendly environment where both beginners and more advanced riders can enjoy our track together. If you are an adult and you are a beginner, please get in touch with us about our MX tuition as we will be able to build up your confidence so you feel happy to join in with Wednesday practice sessions. For beginner kids, we do have a kiddies track available, but again would recommend MX tuition to start you off. Call us on 01244 300321 to discuss further.

Are you insured?

All of our activities are fully insured. We pride ourselves on running an honest and open business where we prioritise our customer’s safety. Please ensure you read the safety signs on show around the sign on areas as well as reading your indemnity terms and conditions before signing the form. If you are ever unsure of anything, just ask one of our friendly members of staff and we will be happy to help. We do our best to provide a well run and safe practice track for everyone to enjoy and to promote off-road activities!
